Kinetic modeling of compressible, high-speed and multiphase flows for multiphysics applications; lattice Boltzmann and finite volume methods; adaptive grid refinement
Ruben Strässle graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich) with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2021 and a Master's degree with distinction in 2024, focusing on energy technology, fluid dynamics and aerospace engineering. He has gained professional research experience in academia, in positions investigating granular physics and fluidized beds using various numerical and experimental techniques or studying hydrogen combustion technologies through reactive flows diagnostics, as well as research and development experiences in the industrial sector, working on aerothermodynamic design of gas turbines blades and engine monitoring software. Ruben started his PhD in the Computational Kinetics Group at ETH Zurich in 2024 and is working on multiscale kinetic modeling of compressible, high-speed and multiphase flows.
